Dear Fellow Karate Friends,
We hope this letter finds you well and ready for a relaxing summer. We are writing to inform you of some changes that are occurring for the Indianapolis Isshinryu Bushido Club.
As many of you are aware our dojo has been housed in Lawrence Township through its Community Education program since 1997. Due to budget cuts in the district Community Education is closing its doors after many years of service to the community.
As a result our dojo has had to make some quick decisions and secure a summer location. We were fortunate enough to be offered the use of Castleton United Methodist Church (71st Street and Shadeland Ave). In order to work out at the church we will need to provide proof of insurance and also pay rent. We are currently working with a few of the elementary schools in Lawrence Township to secure a location for the dojo once school resumes. We will continue to carry insurance and are unsure if we will be asked to pay a building usage fee. We will keep you all posted as we progress through the summer months.
Fortunately, despite our new financial responsibilities we are able to offer summer classes for $100 per student. Classes will meet twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays, 6:00-7:30pm. Classes begin June 1 and run through August 13. Pricing for the summer session is a substantial savings over what Community Education was charging. Our goal is to take in enough monies to cover our expenses. As instructors we will continue to volunteer our time, without pay.
As an added incentive to our students we are offering a $25 discount to anyone who enrolls with a friend. This it to encourage all of our students, current, former, and new, to get the word out about our dojo and all we offer in the study of martial arts. Technically if you get four friends to enroll you could receive a free summer session.
Attached is a registration form and address where you can mail payments. We will have forms, insurance waivers, and will take payments on June 1. All students under age 18 will need a parent/legal guardian to sign the insurance waiver form so please plan accordingly on June 1.
Your support of the dojo this summer is more important than ever as we assume additional administrative and financial responsibilities in order to continue offering instruction to all of our students.

We offer Karate for all ages 7 years old and older Children and Adult.
Karate: Beginning to Advanced
Ages 12 - Adult Learn a skill while getting exercise. Study the art of karate and self-defense while improving muscle tone and flexibility. Emphasis will be on traditional martial arts training including self discipline, basic stances, kicks, hand techniques, and self defense techniques. No experience is required. A karate gi is not necessary for beginning students in their first session. Wear comfortable, loose clothing (sweats).
Class will accommodate the beginning student as well as the advanced student. Families can take this together.
Have fun while learning the art of karate and self-defense. You will learn the basics with an emphasis on self-discipline, stances, kicks and hand techniques. All levels of athletic ability are encouraged to participate. A karate gi is not necessary for the beginning student during the first session. Wear comfortable clothing.
